The Pancake Rocks are a unique natural attraction on New Zealand's South Island West Cost. Layers of water sculpted limestones resembling stacks of pancakes has formed a fanstastic tableau. At high tide with a heavy swell running, seawater is forced upwards through blowholes, the shooting greysers of sea spray have resulted.
The area is explorable by a number of walkways winding through the rock formations, including some carved into stairways up and down the rock faces.
