James Bond Island, Ao Phang Nga National Park, Thailand

James Bond Island, locally known as Khao Tapu, meaning Nail Island, and found fame since it was featured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974. Khao Tapu is a steep rocky monolith, about 20 meters tall. This rock formation lies approximately 200 meters offshore of Khao Ping Gan. It is a butterfly-shape island comprising two islets joined together by a sandy isthmus.

On the shore of Khao Ping Gan, there is crowded with souvenir stalls selling seashells and trinkets. Those islands are located within the Ao Phang Nga National Park, which is on the northeast of Phuket.

Tourists can choose the way to James Bond Island either sign up the standard bus-boat route, which is take a two-three hour bus ride, followed by a half hour ride in a long-tailed boat that winds through the channels of a mangrove swamp or alternatively they can join a boat cruise. The boat cruise costs more, but offers much more.
